Dr. Cranquis' Mumbled Gripes: TSK: Teens with STDs... →
cranquis: So, Tiffany. You’re 16, female, and come to my Urgent Care for “burning when you pee” — but your urine test is completely clean. Hmm. And I notice that you made your mom stay in the waiting-room, instead of coming in to the exam room with you. Spider-sense TINGLING. So, let me ask… LOL

Redheads Require More Anesthesia →
wifeofadocstar: Who knew? Thanks to my brother for sharing this The bottom line is that redheads have specific mutations on the MCR1 gene that not only increase expression of red pigment but may also be involved with the function of the central nervous system. When I found this out for the first time I basically freaked out and was like “asidhaosidhaudsfhsdoihfidsafhosd hTHAT...

The Sun is a Shining
Dexee was pretty grumpy this morning but thankfully it’s a beautiful 50 some degree winter day so I threw her in the sling and we went for a walk in the woods. It’s feeling like a pretty good day today :) I hate how much Dexee is indoors because it’s cold out. I can’t wait for spring so that she can become an outdoor baby at one with nature and all that jazz. She is still...

I'm thinking about it more and more
I’m starting to look more into what it takes to become a doula. I have this serious passion for motherhood. I really want to help mothers of newborns and pregnant women. I wish I had had the knowledge and support of a doula during and after my child birth. I am severely passionate about breastfeeding, I honestly think that the birthing process is the most beautiful and magical part of...

Raspberries
Recently Dexee has started blowing raspberries. They are the cutest things in the world and I LOVE them. Too bad the other day I realized she only does them when she’s irritated. Still, think about it…an irritated baby doing raspberries. It’s pretty freakin adorable! She’s doing them right now because she hates sitting on my lap while I’m on the computer!

I'm a disgusting person
I hate yogurt. It does nothing for me. It’s bland, it’s boring, and it leaves me craving more. While walking down the dairy isle today I saw a cup of yogurt with a cinnamon roll on it and, without hesitating, put it in my cart. I will eat anything with a picture of a cinnamon roll on it. Breaking news update: I’m eating the cinnamon flavored yogurt RIGHT NOW and it is the...

Oops!
Dexee fell off the bed this morning into “the crack”. She woke up at 8, I was exhausted so I tried nursing her back to sleep, didn’t work. She spit up so I moved her to her fathers side of the bed (he was at work by now) and I scooted away to my side. I woke up half an hour later to a very loud noise, no sight of Dexee and than suddenly I heard crying coming out of...

Hospital to Home
I loved my birth experience. I did. It went absolutely nowhere near like I thought it would. I knew I’d probably get an epidural but I wanted to wait until I was at least 5cm I wanted to avoid pitocin, and episiotomy, an IV, permanent monitoring devices, and I wanted to move around as much as possible. Well my water broke which meant I was bed bound at the hospital with an IV and permanent...

Being A Mom
Turning Seasons Within asked me the other day “so what is it like being a mom?” My response was this: “I’m sitting here trying to come up with the right words to explain what it’s like being a mom and I just can’t. You have bestowed upon me an impossible task. The closest I can come to answering your question is to say that it is everything and nothing…but that’s a bit...

Damn
I wish I had seen the Business of Being Born before or early on in my pregnancy. In the unlikely even that Patrick and I decide to have another baby when we revisit the topic in two years I’m definitely going for a home birth.

“On a somewhat serious note today because of a conversation the other day: I...”
– You Didn’t Thank Me For Punching You in the Face « Views from the Couch (via golden-notebook) A very good post on casual sexism and the asshole apologists who defend it. (via stfuapologists) This does clear a lot of things up. Although I will say that I was often told that if I was...

Va. House GOP muscles through abortion curbs →
Can I get a what the fuck!? RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – A Republican supermajority has muscled two of the most restrictive anti-abortion bills in years through the Virginia House, including one that would all but outlaw the procedure in the state by declaring that the rights of persons apply from the moment sperm and egg unite.
